What is Ibogaine Treatment
Ibogaine Treatment is the most effective and painless way to detox
off of opiate based drugs such as Oxycontin, Lortab, and other pain killers and has proven affective for cocaine, methamphetimine, and to a lessor extent alcohol.
Ibogaine basically blocks the carving to use drugs while eliminating virtually all withdrawal symptoms. Ibogaine breaks down in the liver into a substance called Nor-ibogaine that continues to be effective on the opiate receptors for several months after a single dose. Clinical studies reveal that Ibogaine Treatment reduces drug cravings for approximately 6 months allowing the patient time to learn the skills necessary to remain clean from drugs.
Addictions often stem from a person’s inability to cope with traumatic events and the emotions associated with them. Whether the drug of choice is alcohol, heroin, cocaine, OxyContin, or something else, it is the “numb” or “high” feeling that the addict is drawn to. The purpose of obtaining the substance to reach the next high can eventually become the only reason an addict gets up in the morning. When this happens, he or she will often sacrifice all of the things that mattered before the addiction, such as a career, friendships, family relationships, etc., leaving loved ones and coworkers worried and unsure of how to help.
Non Ibogaine Treatment For Addiction
Once the addict begins to consider treatment, it is important to understand that the drugs used to treat addictions, like methadone and Suboxone, can often be addictive in and of themselves. Some addicts leave treatment having recovered from their original addiction, but having developed another addiction while in rehab. If a patient is unable to overcome their Suboxone or methadone dependency, he or she may have to seek detoxification once again for their new addiction.
This is not the case with Ibogaine treatment.
Often with just one dose, Ibogaine inhibits the intense symptoms associated with withdrawal and releases the addict, body and mind, from his or her addiction. Known to have anti-addictive properties, the patient will not form a dependency on Ibogaine. The recovery process, on average, only takes about thirty-six hours when a patient uses Ibogaine. This means that in just over a day, an addict can experience complete recovery without nausea, shaking, or any of the other symptoms brought on by drug abstinence.
Ibogaine is derived from the root of a West African shrub called Tabernanthe Iboga. It has been used by many generations for tribal ceremonies and rituals by the native Bwiti people because it does have hallucinogenic properties. This is part of what makes Ibogaine treatment so effective. Once a patient is given Ibogaine, he or she experiences something similar to a dream in which past events, where the addiction is often rooted, are replayed so he or she may properly recover emotionally. The emotional and/or spiritual aspect of recovery is often overlooked in traditional treatment, but it is vitally important.
Studies on the benefits of Ibogaine during drug addiction recovery first began in the 1960s. At just 19 years of age, a heroin addict named Howard Lotsof experimented with Ibogaine and noticed two things as he came out of his trance-like high. One, he no longer felt dependent on heroin. And two, Lotsof did not experience any withdrawal symptoms when he stopped using heroin. Because of his belief that he had found a “cure” for drug addiction, Lotsof spent the next several decades of his life researching, writing about, and promoting Ibogaine.
While Ibogaine treatments are not available for prescription in the U.S., there are many facilities like ours that effectively treat patients with Ibogaine. In fact, Ibogaine is known to have a success rate of up to 70 percent, which is a significant increase from the 10 percent that is generally associated with traditional rehab.
